Madame Alexander Christening Celebration Huggums Baby Doll

Madame Alexander created the Baby Huggums mold in 1963 as a first play doll for little girls, with molded hair, and a soft lightweight body that is easy to carry and quite huggable; thus the name Huggums. Today the Baby Huggums still is being made as a first play baby, and is offered in several variations. Some with the original cloth body style, and others with a cloth body but has vinyl arms and legs, and a weighted lifelike body.

'Infant baptism' is the Christian religious practice of baptising infants or young children. Although it is not required, many parents and godparents choose to dress the baby in a white gown called a christening gown for the Baptism ceremony. Christening gowns often become treasured keepsakes that are used by many other children in the family and handed down from generation to generation. Traditionally, this gown is white or slightly off white and made with much lace, trim and intricate detail.
